Three Commitments for MVLA
MY PRIORITIES
I'm running for Area 3 on the same three commitments I've worked on for the last four years: every student deserves a path to excellence and opportunity; every student deserves to feel seen, supported, and connected at school; and the Board needs to be open, accessible, and fiscally responsible. Here's the record so far, and what comes next.
The Record
- Supported expanding dual enrollment and AP access — participation is up, AP scores have risen, and National Merit recognition has remained consistently strong
- Supported expanding Career Technical Education pathways (Engineering and Robotics, Information Technology, Digital Communications, Culinary and Arts, Health Science and Medical Technology, etc)
- Supported expanding full English Learner support to both high schools, contributing to improved English proficiency rates
- Backed staff initiatives that improved outcomes specifically for English Language Learners

- Set a clear, sensible AI policy that protects critical thinking and student learning

Connection and Belonging
Every student deserves to walk into class knowing they belong there — and I'm working to make that true for all of them.
The Record
- As a board member, helped open Wellness Centers and launch Wellness Days and Welcome Weeks
- Supported keeping the social studies curriculum accurate, inclusive, and aligned, and training staff to better support LGBTQIA+ students
- Backed the growth of co-taught classes so students with disabilities learn alongside their peers, not separately from them
- Voted to move Health class back in person, where students can learn with a trusted adult
- Helped start regular, direct meetings between the Superintendent and Spanish-speaking families
- Invited as Board President to speak at Alta Vista High School graduation, where I recognized students whose path to graduation looks different but matters just as much
What's Next
- Develop a system to help more students find a caring adult on campus and a place where they belong
- Set actual metrics for the Graduate Profile, so "belonging" isn't just a value statement but something we can measure and report on
- Expand peer-to-peer counseling so students have support from other students, not just adults

Transparency and Fiscal Responsibility
Our community deserves Trustees who are open, accessible, and careful with every tax dollar. Here's how I've worked to earn that trust.
The Record
- Led the creation of the Board's first-ever Governance Handbook, approved by the full Board, so the public — not just Trustees — knows how decisions actually get made
- Built a stronger Superintendent performance review process, where for the first time every Trustee participated equally instead of leaving it to a few
- Supported the launch of the Superintendent Student Advisory Council, which gives students a direct voice with district leadership
- Helped deliver new classrooms and gyms on budget through Measure G bonds, despite skyrocketing construction costs.
- Elected by my fellow trustees to serve on the Shoreline Fund negotiation subcommittee in my first year on the Board, helping lock in funding for a decade
What's Next
- Make Board work easier for the community to understand, including translating materials into other languages
- Continue collaborating with the City of Mountain View to improve walking, biking, and transportation safety as a member of the Active Transportation Public Advisory Committee.
- Continue strong partnerships with the Cities of Mountain View, Los Altos, and Los Altos Hills
