Three Commitments for MVLA
MY PRIORITIES
I'm running for Area 3 on the same three commitments I've worked on for the last four years: every student deserves a path to excellence and opportunity; every student deserves to feel seen, supported, and connected at school; and the Board needs to be open, accessible, and fiscally responsible. Here's the record so far, and what comes next.
The Record
- Ending busing of English Language Learners (ELLs) from one high school to the other, increased English proficiency rates, so ELLS achieved a major academic milestone — scoring green on state standards
- Grew dual enrollment (college credit classes) and AP access — AP participation and scores have risen, and National Merit recognition has remained consistently strong
- Expanded Career Technical Education pathways so students can discover careers, including Engineering and Robotics, Information Technology, Digital Communications, Journalism, Culinary and Arts, Health Science and Medical Technology

Academic Excellence and Opportunities for All Students
Students deserve consistent expectations, strong teaching, and the chance to explore their interests and discover their passions.

Connection and Belonging
Every student deserves to walk into class knowing they belong there — and I'm working to make that true for all of them.
The Record
- Opened Wellness Centers, places where students can decompress and launched Wellness Days when students can have fun and relax between classes, and Welcome Weeks for all incoming students to foster belonging
- Supported keeping the social studies curriculum accurate, inclusive, and aligned, and training staff to better support LGBTQ+ students
- Grew co-taught classes so students with disabilities learn alongside their peers, not separately from them
- Moved Health class entirely in person, so students can learn LGBTQ+ inclusive, medically accurate sex ed with a trusted adult
- Helped start regular, direct meetings between the Superintendent and Spanish-speaking families
- Invited as Board President to speak at Alta Vista High School graduation, where I recognized students whose path to graduation looks different but matters just as much
What's Next
- Develop a system to help more students find a caring adult on campus and a place where they belong
- Set actual metrics for the Graduate Profile, so "belonging" isn't just a value statement but something we can measure and report on
- Expand peer-to-peer counseling so students have support from other students, not just adults

Transparency, Teamwork, and Fiscal Responsibility
Our community deserves Trustees who work together for every student and are open, accessible, and careful with every tax dollar. I have worked hard to earn that trust and will continue to do so.
The Record
- Delivered new classrooms and gyms on budget through Measure E bonds, despite skyrocketing construction costs.
- Led the creation of the Board's first-ever Governance Handbook, approved by the full Board, so the public — not just Trustees — knows how decisions actually get made
- Built a stronger Superintendent performance review process, where for the first time every Trustee participated equally instead of leaving it to a few
- Supported the launch of the Superintendent Student Advisory Council, which gives students a direct voice with district leadership
- Elected by my fellow trustees to serve on the Shoreline Fund negotiation subcommittee in my first year on the Board, helping lock in funding for a decade
What's Next
- Make Board work easier for the community to understand, including translating materials into other languages
- Continue collaborating with the City of Mountain View to improve walking, biking, and transportation safety as a member of the Active Transportation Public Advisory Committee.
- Continue strong partnerships with the Cities of Mountain View, Los Altos, and Los Altos Hills
